The Doctor is in. September 30, 2010

I think it’s easy to say that one of my favorite show’s is Doctor Who. For those of you who don’t know it is a british syfy show. The show has 769 episodes, 31 seasons [including one television movie] and has been running since 1963. I discovered Doctor Who in 2004, before they began to air new episodes,  and as sad as I am to say it, for I have no life, I have seen all 769 episodes since then.

The main character of the Doctor, has been portrayed by eleven different people – for the Doctor never dies. But if he is ever seriously injured he will just regenerate. For he is a timelord a special – now dead – race with two hearts, the ability to regenerate and own TARDIS’ – ships that when flown properly will allow the six drivers – the amount of people needed to pilot the TARDIS properly to head to any place in time and space.

The Doctor and his TARDIS – that’s short for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space – travel not only to different planets, and galaxy’s but to different periods in time. Which lead to all sort’s of adventures during times, of war and devastation – the second world war, Pompey – The Doctor is also known to have a companion, usually a human women in about her early to late 20’s, they travel with him and have all sorts of adventures. The Doctors most notable companions would be – Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Sarah Jane Smith, K-9, Donna Noble and his two male companions Mickey Smith and Jack Harkness.

Now by now your probably wondering what this whole thing’s about, well I’m not sure if The Doctor has one distinct purpose, although he’s taken a liking to earth and defends it constantly the show does have loop holes. For instance, there is an episode in which Donna Noble is given the chance to change her life and avoid the events that lead her to meeting the Doctor the first time. When she does this it leads to the Doctors death, having not escaped a burning underground cavern while it flooded. Because of the Doctor’s death, he never meets Martha Jones, and saves her and an entire hospital – where because the Doctor was not there, everyone inside the hospital died. Which means the Doctor and Martha never travelled back in time to talk to William Shakespeare and end the apocalypse caused when witches implanted a secret code in Shakespeare’s “lost” play Love’s Labours Won. There for without the Doctor and Martha to stop the witches plan from happening, the present would have never existed… One big plot hole.

I guess all I can really say, is that Doctor Who is an amazing show that you should all have the pleasure of seeing. Because when it’s good, boy is it good. And when it’s bad… well it’s still pretty good. So watch it, and understand… That life is just a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey wimey.

Time Passes

There will be other lives.

There will be other lives for nervouse boys with sweaty plams, for bittersweat fumblings in the backseats of cars, for caps and gowns in royal blue and crimson, for mothers clasping pretty pearl necklaces around daughters’ unlined necks, for your full name to be read aloud in an auditorium, for brand-new suitcases transporting you to strange new lands.

And there will be other lives for unpaid debts, for one-night stands, for Prague and for Paris, for painful shoes with pointy toes, for indecisions and revisions.

And there will be other lives for fathers walking daughters down aisles.

And there will be other lives for sweet babies with skin like milk.

And there will be other lives for a man you don’t recognize, for a face in a mirror that is no longer yours, for funerals of intimates, for shrinking, for teeth that fall out, for hair on your chin, for forgetting everything. Everything.

Oh, there are so many lives. How we wish we could live them concurrently instead of one by one by one. We could select the best peices of each, stringing them together like a strand of pearls. But that’s not how it works. A human life is a beautiful mess.

Happieness is a choice, and when one is happy, time passes quickly.

well then…

I guess the appropriate way to start a blog is to write a welcoming statement, a whole bunch of – hope you enjoy what I write, and please make sure to come back regularly’s – but really, no. The appropriate way to start your blog, is make it look how you want, colours, pictures, and the post this piece – a whole bunch of rambles. Which if you haven’t figured out yet, is exactly what this is, a whole bunch of… nothing. But if at this point your still reading, I have the feeling I’ll see you on a regular basis, so let’s give a big heave-ho and say hello to this new internet monstrosity. Welcome.
